Oh I totally agree with that. I am currently way out of my comfort zone. I am doing a full time course on animation, film and photography. The reason for this......my art needed "more", I needed "more". I have so many visions as to how and what I want my art to look, sound and move like and I needed to do something to make that happen. So stay tuned, who knows what's going to happen next lol (probably not for a little while though).
I Planing On Doing The Same Thing Once I Get The Funds Together. Video And Animation Look Like Interesting Areas To Get Into On Ones Own Or As A Career Choice.
Yes, it's not a cheap hobby, that's for sure. But you know what has amazed me the most? How long it takes to creat a very short animation. It has really made me appreciate all of those animated movies. I really would have thought with technology now days, things would have improved a lot more. I am having issues with my computer at the moment when I use After Effects. It keeps crashing. Looks like I need to upgrade the Graphics Card I only got this one 3 years ago. I reckon your art would look absolutely incredible animated. Actually, they would be absolutely "mind blowing". I would love to see it done and I know so many others would too
You're right Leanne; years ago I made short animation using Raydream Studio from Metacreations and it took weeks to get things right and then to do a final render.
So when I see the things people create which has so many complex aspects to it I stand in awe at the talent and patience it takes to put these creations together.
Before you hit yourself up with a new GPU, check to see how much memory AE is eating up using the Task Manager under the Process Tab and Performance Tab.
I've run into this problem with other graphics applications and it's generally a memory issue.
If you have enough memory 8GB to 16GB check the applications Preferences and see how much memory has been assigned for it's use.
Some of the graphics apps I have allow me to configure memory use and disk space for temporary file storage and as a scratch disk.
Lastly if your GPU is under 1GB then I would suggest an upgrade. Since you said the GPU is 3 years old I'm assuming it's DX11 capable or at least DX10 with OpenGL and mostly like OpenCl and/or CUDA capable as well.
The shame with my pieces is that they are built from fixed elements making it impossible to do animations.
But I am taking time to learn Daz Studio and Blender So that I can then recreate these as 3D objects for animations and the like.
